What You Need to Know
Do you perform any physical examinations?
Doulas do not perform physical exams; however, we do offer physical and emotional support to the birthing party and their partner during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum phase.
Do you offer other services?
YMDS offers support for military families, surrogate/intended parents and the LGBTQIA+ community.
One of the major roles of a doula is to assist both you and your partner during childbirth. I would aim to encourage your partner by gently providing tips and suggestions when they may be helpful. Partners are strongly encouraged to attend the initial consultation in order to have their voices heard as well.
What are your interactions with medical staff like?
As a doula, I do not:
